Wadi Degla Developments and TAQA Volt, a subsidiary of TAQA Arabia, have signed a strategic partnership agreement to meet the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and sustainable living solutions.
The partnership aims to install more than 14 EV charging stations within Wadi Degla Developments’ real estate projects. This initiative represents a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation infrastructure in the Egyptian market, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainability and catering to the needs of environmentally conscious consumers.
Sami Abdel Kader, Managing Director of TAQA Power, emphasized the company’s leading position in supporting Egypt’s transition to electric mobility solutions. He highlighted that TAQA Power was the first company in Egypt to obtain a license to install EV charging stations, and currently operates a network of over 100 charging stations across the country.
Abdel Kader also explained that TAQA Volt aims to strengthen the EV charging infrastructure in Egypt by installing more stations shortly, especially with the increasing number of consumers in Egypt considering EVs as an environmentally friendly alternative.
He emphasized the importance of the partnership with Wadi Degla Developments in addressing the current challenge of limited charging stations, which hinders the widespread adoption of EVs. Raymond Ahdy, CEO of Wadi Degla Developments, commented on the importance of providing convenient, safe, and reliable charging solutions for residents and employees within their communities.
He stated that the partnership aligns with the company’s sustainable development strategy and reflects its commitment to providing contemporary and market-responsive developments. Ahdy also highlighted the growing interest in EVs among Egyptian consumers, with over 30% of the car market customer base planning to switch to EVs in the next five years.
He emphasized the need for a strong charging infrastructure to support this transition and cater to the preferences of customers who prioritize eco-friendly living. The partnership between TAQA Volt and Wadi Degla Developments goes beyond developing EV charging infrastructure.
It represents a pioneering initiative that recognizes the pivotal role that EVs will play in Egypt’s sustainable future. By proactively addressing the growing demand for EV charging solutions and establishing the necessary infrastructure, the two companies are not only contributing to the development of sustainable living solutions in Egypt but also enhancing the investment returns of their projects and supporting the achievement of national environmental goals.
EV charging stations have become essential amenities and features in real estate projects, serving as a practical manifestation of the global shift towards sustainable mobility solutions. At the same time, charging infrastructure is a critical factor influencing consumer preferences and property valuations, especially with the continuous expansion and proliferation of EVs in the local market driven by technological advancements, government incentives, and rising environmental awareness.
