SODIC Developments has announced their acquisition of the highest level of green buildings “EDGE Advanced” certificate from the International Finance Corporation “IFC” that lies under the umbrella of the programme of Commercial International Bank of Egypt “CIB”, “Green Bonds and sustainability sector”. SODIC has acquired the certificate for their commercial project, Eastown District project that lies in New Cairo “EDNC”.
The EDGE certificate is a recognition of international standards for measuring energy and water usage, as well as the effectiveness of building materials. Companies that receive this certificate are eligible for various financial opportunities, benefits, and facilities, such as green bonds, loans, and cashback.
The “EDNC” project has been approved for a grant from the International Finance Corporation. This grant has been provided through the Green Bond Program that is a part of the sustainable financing program offered by the Commercial International Bank Egypt. The project has met the EDGE Advanced certification standards, which promote environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and resource conservation.
The “EDNC” project was created with sustainability in mind, which resulted in a 40% reduction in energy consumption, a 33% reduction in water usage and a 22% reduction in the amount of energy consumed in the production of building materials. As a result, the project was awarded the prestigious “EDGE Advanced” certification, which is one of the most important international certifications for green buildings.
Ayman Amer, the General Manager of SODIC, expressed his pride in obtaining the EDGE Advanced certificate for green buildings for the EDNC project. He stated that this certificate is consistent with SODIC’s strategy, which prioritizes sustainability and taking concrete steps to reduce carbon emissions in all of their projects. This achievement confirms SODIC’s position as a real estate developer that integrates sustainability standards into all their work.
