Maxim Investment Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the South Sinai Governorate to cooperate in establishing medical tourism projects within the governorate on the sidelines of the International Health Tourism Conference.

Major General Dr. Khaled Fouda, Governor of South Sinai, and Dr. Mohamed Karar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maxim Investment Group, signed the memorandum of understanding on Sunday, March 3, 2024.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of the government’s encouragement of investments in South Sinai Governorate, especially those focusing on health and medical tourism and leveraging the governorate’s natural resources and unique geographical location. This makes it suitable for establishing numerous health tourism projects, especially considering South Sinai prioritizes health tourism in its tourism agenda due to its abundant natural resources. It also boasts essential therapeutic tourism sites, including Moses’ Bath in the city of Taba, Pharaoh’s Bath in Abu Zenima, the sulfur springs in Ras Sedr, and Moses’ Springs.

Through cooperation with the South Sinai Governorate, Maxim Investment Group intends to transfer its expertise in establishing multi-purpose projects and health and medical tourism projects. Its current focus is establishing such projects, one of the most important being the Nayya Health Resort in Giza.

Maxim will work on deepening and enhancing the concept of the Eco-lodge in Sharm El Sheikh to achieve integration between architecture and the environment, aiming to reduce environmental damage from excessive use of modern technology. It will provide health and environmental services for tourists to experience the surrounding natural and cultural life, which will significantly improve mental and emotional well-being. Additionally, it will promote the idea of ecotourism to support and increase environmental awareness and reduce pollution. Establishing these projects relies on selecting areas with relatively stable weather conditions and designing buildings to minimize daily thermal range, even throughout the seasons, available in the South Sinai Governorate.

The memorandum also stipulates Maxim’s preparation of project concepts, considering the spatial design of all areas to ensure comfort for tourists. It aims to utilize all factors for enjoying the site’s natural, social, and climatic characteristics and to benefit from them in creating an integrated design for the building in various natural environments (coastal, desert, mountainous, oases). Additionally, it involves designing and constructing the Eco-lodge with building heights matching the surrounding trees to protect the view and maintain harmony, allowing for observing natural landscapes and cultural resources during daily activities. Furthermore, it includes using trees, green spaces, and elevations as sound barriers between private and public areas, providing spaces for showcasing local crafts and practicing folk arts, which are well-received and harmonious with tourists.

The memorandum of understanding includes cooperation between Maxim Investment Group and the South Sinai Governorate in establishing health tourism projects through regulations governing this matter. Maxim will propose the best sites for health tourism, provide conceptualizations, and present studies related to these ideas to the South Sinai Governorate for review and commencement of implementation.
