In a pivotal move towards green construction, Egyptian real estate leader Madinet Nasr and prominent steel producer Elmarakby Steel have joined forces through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration targets sustainable waste management practices at construction sites, aligning with national efforts to reduce carbon emissions, minimize waste, and promote environmental and economic sustainability within the building industry.

Madinet Nasr is the first developer to partner with Elmarakby Steel to support suppliers prioritizing low-carbon emissions in their manufacturing processes. Their focus on minimizing waste and promoting a closed-loop cycle in construction is evident in Madinet Nasr’s procurement of most of its low-carbon steel rebar from Elmarakby Steel, furthering its carbon footprint reduction strategy.

The MoU outlines key objectives that are prioritized:

Construction sites generate a lot of waste, so it’s essential to have a plan to manage it properly and promote recycling. Using sustainable materials like low-carbon steel rebar can contribute to a more environmentally friendly construction process. Sharing knowledge and best practices in sustainable construction methods can help everyone involved in the industry work together to achieve these goals.

This partnership will have multiple benefits, including a reduced carbon footprint for construction projects, greater efficiency and productivity, and long-term economic viability for the real estate sector. By embracing sustainable practices, construction projects can become more cost-effective and environmentally responsible. This, in turn, can contribute to a more streamlined and productive construction process, benefiting everyone involved.

“We are firmly committed to integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations,” declared Abdullah Sallam, CEO of Madinet Nasr. “This partnership with Elmarakby Steel represents a pivotal step towards a more sustainable future for Egypt.”

Echoing this sentiment, Hassan Elmarakby, CEO of Elmarakby Steel, expressed, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Madinet Nasr, a leading name in real estate development, to champion sustainability in the construction industry. This partnership embodies our shared dedication to environmental responsibility and economic growth.”

Dina Habib, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Madinet Nasr, remarked, “Signing this strategic agreement reflects our unwavering commitment to creating sustainable communities in every facet of our operations – economically, socially, and environmentally – all while adhering to the highest quality standards.”

“Our strategic partnership with Madinet Nasr signifies a major step forward,” stated Ramy Saleh, Chief Business Development and Sustainability Officer at Elmarakby Steel. “We are proud that Elmarakby Steel products boast the lowest carbon emissions in Egypt and the region.”

This collaboration between Madinet Nasr and Elmarakby Steel serves as a beacon of hope for a future where environmental responsibility and economic success can coexist within the Egyptian real estate sector. By working together, they pave the way for a more sustainable future for the industry and the nation.

Madinet Nasr has a history for real estate developments as the company was established 1959 and successfully managed to develop some of Egypt’s biggest cities and communities as Sarai and many others.
